WhoElseIsMe is a mirror, not a surveillance tool. This page explains, in plain words, what we collect and what we do with it.
What we collect
The name, suburb/city/country, and profession you enter, and your email address — verified by a one-time code before any scan runs. Phone number is optional and never verified. No password is ever stored. If you buy a Deep Scan, we also collect the date of birth, aliases and employer/school you provide for that scan only.
Where footprint content comes from
Every footprint is built only from publicly visible sources: the open web (via search), public platform pages, Wikipedia and similar public databases, and what AI models say when asked. A Deep Scan additionally checks your own verified email against public breach-notification data (the same category of service Firefox Monitor uses) — never a private surveillance database. We never buy data from data brokers or people-search services.
You verify your own footprint
While a scan runs, every individual finding — a search result, a platform profile, an AI answer — is shown to you to confirm or reject before it becomes part of your footprint. Nothing you reject is used. Anything you never get to is automatically excluded after 30 minutes.
What we never include
Health, sexuality, religion, ethnicity and criminal allegations are excluded even when publicly findable. If evidence suggests a subject is under 18, the scan stops (and any payment is refunded). Deep Scan is 18+ only, enforced from the date of birth you provide before the scan starts.
Consent
You may scan yourself, or someone who has given you their permission. We rate-limit scans per account and per IP.
What becomes public
Your footprint page is a private, unlisted link — only people you share it with can see it, unless you turn on the “make public” toggle yourself. Claiming a throne publishes only your name, tier, score, place and profession to the relevant map and leaderboards — never the detailed findings.
Retention and deletion
We keep scan data indefinitely so leaderboards and rankings stay meaningful over time. Every footprint has a delete button. Deleting an unclaimed free scan removes it completely. Deleting a claimed throne scrubs your name and personal details everywhere, but — because real money and a real rank were involved — the slot stays on the board as an anonymous “Deleted throne,” showing only the score, so everyone else's rank stays accurate. Billing records are kept for legal/accounting purposes and are never deleted on request.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
